Dresses are one of those items that you need in your closet. Whether it’s a casual t-shirt dress, party dress and everything in between…You need them. They are easy and I love them because they don’t require a lot of effort and thought. If you’re like me, you tend to wear a lot of dresses during Spring and Summer. But, because I’m always cold I shy away from them during the cooler months. However, Fall and Winter bring so many events and parties because it’s jam packed with holidays and celebrations. Here are 5 dresses you need for fall to get you through the errands and events.
T-Shirt Dress
This is my current favorite dress (here, here) because it’s perfect for everyday life. I throw it on with a pair of sneakers and I’m out the door. But, it easily transitions to something more by adding a cute bootie or pump. It’s also so versatile. Layer with a plaid shirt, or a utility, denim or moto jacket to create a different vibe and maximize your favorite t-shirt dress.
Lace Dress
Lace is so feminine and perfect when you want to create a more romantic look. Try wearing lace this year in red or green for a bold version of the classic black/cream/blush lace dress. If going for the dress in a bold color, stick to neutral pumps and makeup so the dress is the focus. If going for muted/neutral color, then play up the accessories; for example colored tassel earrings or colored clutch.
Velvet Dress
You guys velvet IS BACK!!! I’m loving it. It’s so soft and cozy and coming in so many great colors right now. This is definitely the dress you wear to a dressier event….NOOOT you guys, velvet is becoming so casual that you can wear it every day. Especially if you grab it in a shift dress style, pair it with a bomber and sneakers to get that cool girl vibe without even trying
Sweater Dress
This is a staple for fall and winter (Love this and this). Pair with over the knee boots, flat or heeled, for that classic Fall/Winter look. You just can’t go wrong with this style, plus its warm and cozy…who doesn’t love that?!?!
Leather Dress
Leather isn’t just for jackets. It’s an incredibly versatile layering piece. Leather can be expensive, so look for faux leather option to stay within budget. The key to finding a great faux leather is finding something that is not too stiff or shiny, which can cheapen the look. Pair with a classic black pump or to keep it edgy wear a flat ankle bootie.
There are so many great options for dress you for fall this year. Also one not mentioned is suede. This is becoming on trend as well. I love this, this and this for this season as well.
Hope your week is off to a great start so far!
