Beauty Basics: Blush Blush Blush

April 3, 2018

I’m so excited to talk about the basics of blush today guys! I’ll be honest, wearing blush was never in my makeup routine until about eight months ago. I started doing this whole highlight, contour routine and simply have fallen in love with blush. Here’s why, blush makes your face come alive! It gives you a pretty flush to your cheeks to polish off your look.

OK, so let’s talk about why I didn’t use to be a blush fan, because if you’re not a fan it’s probably for a similar reason. When blush is not placed correctly you look like a Hot Mess…I mean literally, you look like you just ran 8 miles in 100 degree heat. This is not flattering or cute. It’s definitely all about placement, amount used and blending. Here are some of my tips I’ve learned recently to ensure you’re getting the right placement and get that pretty pulled together look!

Tips For Wearing Blush
  • Focus on the apples of your cheeks- smile at yourself in the mirror. Find the squishiest part of your cheeks and that is where you want to place your color.
  • Blend upwards into your contour, this creates a lifting effect. You want to lift your face up, not draw it down.
  • Don’t be afraid of color,. You will ALWAYS blend it out and make it look natural.
Why Cream Blushes

Cream blushes are highly pigmented. Allowing you to get the color you want, without using a lot of product. With powder blushes you need to use more layers to achieve the same look. This can leave you looking cakey and the blush looks less natural. Another great thing about cream blushes is they can double up as a lip color, or use them as a base for eyeshadow.

Blush is a really simple step in your beauty process. Practice and experiment with what works best for your face. You can master anything with practice!

Thank you so much for stopping. I hope you Get Out There and have a Gorgeous Day!
