Since I became a mom I don’t wear dresses as often as I use to. I’d say that’s partly because I’m constantly sitting on the floor, playing at the park or chasing the girls around the yard. But, I do love them because they are an easy, go-to style that’s classic. The cotton dress is so versatile and I think it’s a must for everyone’s closet. I’ll share tips below for how I choose the best dresses for mom life, but these can easily work for any woman.
I would almost venture to say that a basic cotton dress, no matter the cut, it’s a piece we can’t live without. Here’s why, it’s comfortable, wears well with sneakers or a heel of some sort and it’s easy AF to style!!! I love this one from Blair Maxwell. It’s so soft and comfortable. I love the length, and it comes in several colors and sleeve lengths. It comes in long sleeve and this one is sleeveless, which is perfect to wear it in different seasons. This dress is also similar and comes in a ton of colors and very versatile.
Tips For Choosing The Best Dresses for Mom Life
- Find your fit/? Are you into more fitted, A-line, shift, etc… Finding the right fit to flatter your body is the perfect place to start. If you’re not comfortable with in it in the dressing room, don’t buy it.
- Choosing a Color. Find a great cut in a neutral shade, like tan, black, or white. This allows you to make completely different looks and recycle it to cut the cost per wear waaay down.
- Wear cute simple sneakers when shopping for this closet staple. I say this because pretty much any dress is going to work with a bootie, wedge or pump, but not everything looks cute with your sneakers. If you know it works with sneakers then you’re likely to wear it on days you’re with the kids and while you’re running errands.
These are the tips I follow pretty much every time I go shopping. I like to find multi-functional pieces that allow me to get the most use and wear out of my closet. What are some of your tips for finding the perfect staples for your closet?
