My love for a good, simple t-shirt dress has been around for ever. Last year I styled a striped t-shirt dress several ways, but today sharing eight t-shirt dress outfits with a solid colored option. The thing about a solid colored dress is it’s super easy and versatile. And these days…I’m ALLLL about versatility.
I use to feel like I needed to keep up with every single trend and new style, but honestly I just can’t keep up. For me, it’s about finding the right pieces that can be worn over and over again. Finding options that mix and match easily for whatever I’m doing that day.
The thing I love about a t-shirt dress is it can take you to just about any occasion. Here are eight t-shirt dress outfit ideas from casual to office or going out.
By itself with sneakers
This is the easiest way to style it..Duh! Pair it with sneakers, sandals or wedges and grab your favorite bag to head out the door. A few accessories you can add are a long necklace, fun hat and some cute sunnies.
With a denim jacket
For a casual laid back vibe add a denim jacket. I’ve paired it with both a traditional jean jacket, but also this fun layered white denim jacket. This is a great piece to add during early Spring when the mornings are cool, but as the day warms up you can simply tie it around your waist. You could easily get the same look with a chambray button up.
Layer with a kimono
Of course I had to layer it with a kimono. It’s the perfect piece to throw over dresses, shorts, jeans swimsuits. It’s such a great way to mix it up without adding the weight of a jacket.
Add a belt and a cardigan
Take your t-shirt dress to the office by adding a belt, cardigan and some pumps. You could also switch out the cardigan for a blazer to make it even more office appropriate. If you’re not a pump girl, just throw on your go-to flats and you’re all set!
With a sweatshirt layered over it
This makes a great shirt and skirt look. You could grab almost any sweatshirt to create this look. You can wear it long, or add a belt and tuck it up into it for a more cropped and fitted look. I love this for days when it’s a little chilly, or just overacted and dreary.
With another dress layered over it
This is one of me new favorite tips to maximize a purchase. Button up shift dresses are super cute. So why not maximize it by wearing it like kimono/light jacket. With this dress You could wear it totally open, or you can tie the sash around to create a little more shape.
Tie a graphic tee over it
Another shirt and skirt look. This is one of the easiest ways to maximize any dress in your closet. Grab any t-shirt, graphic, stripe, or solid and tie it up. Depending on the tee, you can tie it in to the side, or in the middle.
With a blazer
another office appropriate way to be comfortable at work, but still look professional. I love this long line blazer jacket, but any boyfriend style blazer would be great for this look. Again with a pair of pumps or your favorite flat and you’re set.
T-shirt dresses are so versatile and perfect for just about any occasion. I’d love to hear which is your favorite look in the comments below.
