If you’ve been following me for a while, especially on Instagram, then you know I have had injections. I’ve talked about my insecurities with my lip and chin scar. I talked briefly about it here, but wanted to go into to more details and how I’ve gained more confidence. Fixing insecurities with injections is a real thing. Plus keep reading until the end because I have a HUGE announcement!!
Here’s the story. When I born, I had what is called a hemangioma on my bottom lip. This means there is a benign malformation of the blood vessels that don’t connect to the vessels that flow systemically. Mine was in my lower lip. Because of this my lower lip was very large and turned completely out. I had to live this way until I was five. Needless to say I was very shy and didn’t talk a lot because I held my lip in.
When I turned five, my mom finally found a plastic surgeon that would operate on it. He removed the hemangioma and reconstructed my lip. According to my mom, after the surgery my entire personality changed. I would talk more, wanted to play with others and was definitely less shy.
Although my personality changed for the better, I have always been super self-conscious about my lip and scar. I’m asked all of the time what happened and if it can still be fixed, and some people even ask how I deal with this scar on my face. I mean really? Who asks that?
Anyway I have always hated the scar and have always hated how little my bottom lip was. I know it’s better than it was and I should be grateful I was able to get the hemangioma removed and have an actually lip. But I have always wanted it more proportional to my upper lip. I wanted to be able to put lipstick on and actually see it.
So earlier this year I had my first experience with lip injections to help plump it up. It was fine, I was nervous about how it would go, what it would look like etc, so I stayed pretty conservative. But after, I realized I wanted it to be bigger and more noticeable. I didn’t want it to be obvious that I had gotten them, but definitely wanted it bigger.
The second, and most recent time I went to see Sheri at Allure Rejuvenation Center. You all know how much I love ARC! You can read about my CoolSculpting experience here. She used a different product and more of it. In fact, I went back for a second full syringe, and boy am I glad that I did! The lips are a very vascular area and swelling can happen pretty quickly when injecting in this area. Which is why we waited for the second syringe. We thought they would need it, but it was nice to see the difference in 1 vs 2 syringes. Plus I actually liked the slow change, rather than going from nothing to big full lips.
But, that wasn’t it. We have since put a little filler in my chin, around my scar to even it out. I kid you not, afterwards I almost cried. It was seriously LIFE CHANGING! I feel like there is this huge stigma around getting injections. It’s not just for those trying to achieve the unobtainable look of Barbie. There are SOO many people out there with insecurities that are real, and people want to fix. Injections can be more than just enhancement, it’s about personal improvement and making yourself feel beautiful and confident!
Needless to say I am loving my lips. They look so natural and even. I mean I know they won’t be perfect because of my scar and surgical site, but they are about as perfect as could be expected. Sheri really took her time when doing them, there was such an artist approach in her style that really put me at ease and knew I was in good hands.
BIG NEWS
Well, I think it’s no secret that I am a nurse and I LOVE beauty, beauty products and aesthetics. So I am happy to announce that I am now certified to inject BOTOX and Filler. You all I have been wanting to do this for about four years, but wasn’t sure how to go about it. After doing so research and asking around (well really a huge thank you goes to Sheri) I found a class. You may remember last November when I took a quick trip back to Kansas City, it was for my certification. SOO I CAN NOW INJECT!!! WooHoo
I believe everyone is beautiful and has such stunning, unique features. I’m excited to be able to highlight and enhance those features in a natural was so people can see the beauty I already see. I am taking on clients by appointment and would love to work with you!
