Ok confession time. When James looks good, I feel good. There’s just something about being with your significant other when they take their look to the next level. Or really just take the time to get ready. It’s like when they look good you feel like you’re on top of the world. You’re excited to be seen with them, it almost boosts your own confidence a little. One of the easiest way’s to elevate any look is through accessories. This post is all about his and hers Fall Accessories guide.
To be honest, James absolutely hates to shop. He wants nothing to do with fashion and could care less what he’s wearing. Here’s what I love about this, I get to choose what’s in his closet and pick out what he wears for big events and special occasions. I love this. It makes going out, doing family photos and getting ready for events super easy. However, I know some guys are not this easy.
Many guys have such an opinion on their style that it’s hard for you have a say. Whether they’re a little diva about their style, or like James and don’t care at all one way to get your touch into the look is adding accessories. Here are a few favorite accessories to work with.
Men’s Fall Accessory Guide
Sunglasses – this is such an easy add to any outfit. It’s also what adds the finishing touch, and some sleekness to a look. Whether he’s dressing up or staying casual, I love how sunglasses just pull everything together.
Shoes – This may normally be somewhat of an afterthought. But think about it, we obsess over our footwear. Most guys are good with a pair of sneakers or a slip on loafer. Knowing this makes shoe shopping for Men so much easier. Take what they like, and find an updated modern version of it. For example, James prefers any kind of slip on shoe over one that ties. So I tend to buy him shoes like Sperry’s, Converse or any other brand like these. But an easy way to break that is finding a great sneaker that’s comfortable, goes with anything and easy to slip on…even if it ties.
Jacket – I personally love a good jacket, I like to mix it up and use it as a true accessory. However, guys don’t necessarily see it this way. They want just a couple and that’s it. So having a few good go-to’s for different weather days is key. Having a a good fleece jacket for mild days, a mid-weight jacket and of coarse their heavy duty, warm coat. I love this mid-weight puffer jacket, and surprisingly it’s super warm and can through some pretty cold weather.
Scarf – Ok this is actually a hard one sometimes. I can’t always get James to pull this off, but when I can I just think it looks SOO good!
Backpack – I don’t know what it is, but I love a Man with a backpack. This is probably more for the office commuting, or techy kind of guy, but having a stylish way to carry all the things is key. I love James’ backpack, it’s a little on the pricier side, but we picked it up during a sale. What do you think, are you a backpack, briefcase or messenger bag fan?
Women’s Fall Accessory Guide
Ok now this could totally be it’s own post, which I have done before. Take a look at last years post.
Booties – This is my number one Fall accessory. They immediately make anything look like Fall. Every year there are some trendy styles to from, but it’s important to have a classic pair in black and brown. These two with go with any outfit and will last your from year to year, which is why I say invest in a good pair.
Cardigans – Oh how I love a good cardigan. I love these for Fall because they are lightweight, but they keep you warm. For these Fall days when the weather bounces around they’re easy to grab and go, and you don’t have the bulkiness of a jacket.
Vest – A vest is also a great way to stay warm. Often times if you just keep your core warm, the rest of you stays warm. Also, there are so many days where it’s not quite cold enough for a jacket, or even a cardigan, but just cool enough that you need something. So throw on a vest.
Handbags – The perfect way to complete and compliment any outfit. I’d say for trendy styles, colors or prints it’s ok to not spend a fortune. But having a the perfect black and/or brown bag can get you through the entire Fall and Winter season. I love this black bag. The structure is classic and I love the hints of gold details.
