How To Get That Casual Look … And Still Be Put Together

September 13, 2017

How to get a sporty casual look How to get a sporty casual look How to get a sporty casual lookAthleisure is everywhere and I feel like it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. I mean who doesn’t love the wear sneakers just about every day…I do and if you say not me then I think you’re crazy! Ok well not crazy, but seriously it’s so much easier to get in and out of places and run around with the kids.

Don’t get me wrong, I love dressing up and wearing heels. But day-in and day-out I am a busy mom with on-the-go and messy kids. We are always running to the store, doing errands, taking the girls around, going shopping, etc… So I tend to lean towards comfort and casual.

Here are the tips I follow when putting together a comfortable, casual, mom life approved look…AND still look put together.

  1. Build your outfit around the sneaker or slip-on, after all this is what makes the look sporty and casual. I find it’s best to stick with something neutral, whether it be black, white, cream or even a blush. These colors will take you far and go with just about everything. I love this particular slip-on from the Dolce Vita Target Collection.
  2. Choose a great fit in your jeans. Whatever your style, boyfriend, straight or skinny jeans just make sure they fit well. Nothing throws a look off more than an ill-fitting pair of denim. I have to admit, this is extremely hard for me sometimes because my hips and butt aren’t proportioned well with my waist. So for me, I do best with a jean that has a bit of stretch. If you can’t find the right fit, then talk to a local tailor and to alter them, this isn’t as costly as it used to be.
  3. Add a denim jacket. For some reason, just by adding this the look instantly looks more finished and polished. It’s great for layering the temps are cooler (plus this is a closet staple, it layers over maxi and shift dresses, pencil skirts and an all denim look). And also looks great tied around your waist.
  4. Accessories are the ultimate way to polish off any look. I can be as simple as wearing a watch and some sunglasses, or a cute dainty necklace and a hat. Whatever you choose, I say keep it simple, this stays with the casual vibe of the look…Honestly, this was a wash my hair day so it was clean and perfect for a few waves, otherwise, I would have thrown on this faux leather cap (I wear it everywhere and have it in this color too!)
