One of my favorite things about fashion is how multi-functional so many pieces are. It’s almost Spring which means lots of fun dusters and kimonos. They’re key pieces for your Spring and Summer wardrobe. I love how the combination of these two creates the perfect piece to wear for many different occasions. You can wear it casual or dress it up.
You all know I’m all about easy and comfortable. The best part is you can utilize any length or style of kimono you have. It’s perfect as lightweight jacket as the temperature warms up, great as a swimsuit cover up and perfect for those cooler Summer nights.
I can’t wait to share a few kimono outfit ideas to incorporate this trend now, throughout the summer and into fall.
6 Kimono Outfit Ideas
Layered over jeans
This is such an easy way to improve upon your typical t-shirt and jeans combo. I wore this kimono last year and was obsessed with how easy this look is to put together and wear. I love that you don’t need a ton of accessories because the kimono is the star! This is the outfit that can be worn most during the cool Spring and Fall days and night.
Kimono over a maxi dress
I love the simplicity of this look. The kimono adds a little personality to a simple dress. If you’re not a maxi dress girl, scroll down and see how to style it over a t-shirt dress.
Shorts and tank
Much like the t-shirt and jeans, this is basically the summer version. I would find a cute short sleeve option and you can go with a long or short version. this is the perfect look to run errands in, meet up with girlfriends for lunch or a casual night out for pizza!
Bathing suit cover up
I don’t know about you, but I am always desperate for a great cover up. I’ve tried cute little dresses and other swim cover ups, but ultimately I end up throwing my towel or swim robe on because I don’t like the hassle of putting clothes back on. I have worn this long kimono over my swim suit a couple of times already and I am loving how easy, hassle-free it is.
Over a Jumpsuit
A basic jumpsuit is such a good closet staple. I love being able to throw them on and for an easy outfit. Adding kimono over it just enhances an otherwise basic piece. I love that it can be casual with sandals or sneakers, but also dress it up with a long necklace and a dressier shoe.
Over a T-Shirt Dress
This is for a dressier look. You can take any simple, plain shift or fitted dress and make it more interesting by throwing on a kimono. I wore this a few years ago to an event and it was the perfect comfortable, yet chic. You can also see this dress with the other two kimonos in this post.
The kimono is the perfect accessory from Spring to Fall, depending on where you live it might be great ALL year long. I love how it adds just the perfect amount of flare to the simpliest outfit.
What are your thoughts, are you into the trend?
