Well yesterday was a big day. My baby girl turned one. SHE TURNED ONE. I just can’t even begin to tell you that I just don’t even know how we got here already. Time is just flying by and I really want it to slow down a bit!
Don’t get me wrong, I am loving that she’s on regular food and cow’s milk. I am still pumping/breastfeeding some. But the major stress of doing that has subsided (more on this is coming soon, I’ve been working on a “Getting real about breastfeeding” post).
This last year has been a lot of things. It’s been very emotional because along with all of the joy, love, excitement, and happiness; there is also a lot of stress, sleepless nights and frustration. But, I would not trade it for anything. I love my girls and I love being a Mom more than anything.
My sister always says “Kallie, you’re just in that Mom Mode and all wrapped up into that.” But, you know what, I don’t care. Being a mom has been so amazing. I always felt like I would love it, but I never knew how much until I had Aria; and even more so since having Amelia.
I just love watching them grow and learn. This last year with Amelia has been very different from our first time around, and not just because we have 2 now. But, because Amelia has just been very different. Her eating patterns (partly because I’ve breastfed way longer), her sleeping habits are WAAAY different from Aria (and not in a good way), and just her entire way of doing and learning things.
It’s been so fun watching the two girls interact with each other. Aria is really the sweetest Big Sister. She has such a helpful, caring and nurturing heart. She loves to teach her new skills, and the latest is how we don’t scream in the house and we don’t laugh at mom and dad when they tell us no. Yes, Amelia does this. She definitely has a mischievous and antagonizing side to her. I’m hoping this doesn’t last too long!
Anyway, on to some good stuff. We still don’t know very many people out here, so Amelia had a pretty slim attendance for her party. But, that didn’t stop me from working with a theme and making it fun for her. Since the Oscar’s were last night, we did an Oscar’s theme party. I kept it pretty simple with a black table cloth, strings of pearls scattered on the table, a few candles and a gold Happy Birthday sign. I actually found the sign and the 1 balloon at Target in The Dollar Spot (you just can’t beat that place!).
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have a great week!
