I’m OBSESSED with bright color sweaters. Well bright colored anything any time of the year, but especially during the Winter months.
Why I love bright colors
Just a share a little example, before hospitals required uniformed colors for different specialties I always wore scrub pants and a brightly colored jacket. I did this because as an Intensive Care nurse you’re constantly surrounded by very, very sick patients. There’s a huge amount of stress and you experience a lot of death and dying.
Many patients and their families are sad, depressed, angry and so many other high and strong emotions. My thought was, even if for a brief moment, I could be a bright moment in their day, I wanted to be. And you know what? I couldn’t tell you how many patients and/or their family members commented on my brightly colored jacket on a daily bases.
I would tell them my reasoning and they’d smile. Honestly it would be the first, and a lot of the time, the only time I’d see them smile. To me, my goal was accomplished.
You see, we all need a moment of cheer in the darkness that is all around every single day. So why not wear the bright colors. I do it to help cheer myself up, but also you never know who my just glance at you and for moment they smile because it’s the brightest light they’ll see all day.
