Fourth of July is one of those fun, casual holidays that I just love. It’s about spending time outside, having a barbecue and staying up late to watch all the amazing fireworks. I loved this holiday when I was little. We would setup lawn chairs on the driveway, get out the snappers, smoke bombs and sparklers when it was dust. We’d run around without a care in the world. It’s about taking in the moments.
Isn’t that what this celebration is about, freedom? For a few hours we get to let go, bring out our inner child and enjoy the sites and sounds of the 4th Of July. It’s amazing we have the ability to do this. So often we take this for granted. So many don’t even have the ability to go to school, be with whom they want, dress how they want, have the career they desire, etc…
I’ve been thinking a lot about this kind of stuff lately. With recent news of children being separated from their parents, it’s heartbreaking. I think about the freedom we have, options and choices we are allowed to make.
Honestly, if I were separated from girls I’d be devastated. But, this kind of thing happens all of the time around the world. Not even just this, as I’ve mentioned before people are getting sick younger and younger. I’ve had many conversations with patient’s family recently and I keep hearing the comment “I can’t believe I’ve out lived my children. It’s not suppose to be this way!”
It’s true it’s just crazy out there and it reminds me how lucky I am to be with my babies everyday. I take moments all the time to just enjoy them, no matter how stressed I may be, how big that laundry pile is or how cranky they are.
I’m just trying to savor every minute I get with these girls. I love watching them play, get excited for holidays and everything in between. Time doesn’t slow down no matter how much we will it to. So take some time today, and every day to enjoy the little things. Whether your a parent or not, be sure you’re taking in the moments that mean something to you!
Thank you so much for stopping by! Hope you Get Out There and have a Gorgeous week!
