Alright my fellow shopping friends, it’s that wonderful time of the year when Nordstrom get’s out their NEW Fall items and discounts them to 40% off. I’m going to warn you, your Instagram feed is going to be BLEEDING with Nordstrom Anniversary Sale picks for the next few weeks.
This sale is HUUUGE guys, so I will be here to help you the entire few weeks ensure you’re finding the best items for your fall closet. In my opinion this is the time to stock up on essentials, like boots, sweaters, sneakers ans coats/jackets. I would consider these big ticket items that will be staples for several years. I can remember my first sale I picked up a pair of Tory Burch riding boots and grabbed a pair the next 2 sales after that, so now I have a black, brown and a combo pair (this was over 5 years ago and my boots are still in rotation every fall/winter because they just last)
Ok so without further ado, here are the 10 Must Have Items to buy at the #NSale and I have linked below several things I have gotten in previous sales, and or are included again in this year’s sale.
1. Riding Boots + Booties
Every year during the winter , when it gets cold I always say to myself “Man, I need some new boots, an updated style.” SO this is the time to get them. I have purchased boots anywhere from $50-$300 dollars, I know that latter number seems high, but when you see them after the sale and they’re $595 you’re going to be bummed you didn’t get them while they were so cheap (haha). Booties are also a must have. Grab a black and a brown pair and they will last you all winter. Trust me, you will wear the over and over again during the Fall, Winter and even into Spring.
2. Leather or Suede Jacket
So leather jackets are expensive, I mean sometimes even faux leather jackets are costly. I’ll be honest, I have not once ever regretted buying one of my leather jackets. They are so functional. You can wear it with a simple tee and jeans or jean shorts, over maxi dress or pencil skirt…the pairings are endless. Suede has been making such a great statement over the last year and I have no doubt it will be another hot item to grab.
Cardigans are such an easy piece to elevate any boring outfit. Fall and winter is all about layering and and cardigans make layering easy. What I love about a great cardigan is that it will be used all year long. You’ll grab it before going out to dinner, or the movies, you’ll put one on when you’re sitting outside by the firepit drinking a glass of wine (even in the summer you’ll reach for a cardi). This cardigan was my favorite from last year and it looks like it’s back again!
4. Basic T-shirts
Ok so this may seem like an odd choice because it’s just a t-shirt. But, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worn the tees in the photos below and they we all under $20…talk about the price per wear of these being pennies! Plus, after a year of wear and tear it’s time to update them.
5. Great Handbag
So I look at handbags as an investment piece. Yes, I change out purses several times a week, but I also carry them A LOT. This is the time to finally pull the trigger on that designer bag. Also, during the sale there will be sale exclusive colors that you won’t be able to get any other time from any other place. Some of my favorite designer bags are from Rebecca Minkoff, Marc Jacobs and Tory Burch and Kate Spade.
I buy a new pair of sneakers every year. I usually have worn out my previous pair by now so I love getting a new pair of running shoes. Plus I feel like the colors that are released during the sale are only available during the sale. I rarely see them again, so not sure if they just sell out that fast or are only sale exclusives.
Ok so this is kind of like the tshirts. You need sweaters to bundle up in and layer. There is always a great selection of basic sweaters to layer over a button down, or pick up a fun poncho to layer over just about anything.
8. Bangles, Earrings + Necklaces
So this is a little broad, but they also have great pieces that are affordable. I always find great bangles and earrings under $30-40. This is also a great section to find gifts for your girlfriends, mom and sisters.
9. Jeans + Leggings
So last year I pick up my first pair of BlankNYC Jeans for about $40 and they have been my favorite jeans ever since. I love the jeans sale because they’re always so affordable. I feel like I always pick up a few pairs and they run between $30-80, which is such a great price for something you wear almost every day! I also always find their basic leggings section filled with great stuff. Last year I bought the faux leather leggings from Spanx and they are still my favorite. Zella also always has a few basic options, like the Live In Legging which is great to layer over a sweater and pair with boots or booties.
10. Christmas, Birthday + Hostess Gifts
Most people don’t also think home items and Nordstrom in the same thought. But, you guys they always have such a great section for gifts. Things I have stocked up on for gifts are candles, diffusers, throws and fun wine glasses. Other items I’ve picked up for gifts are slippers, lounge pants, jewelry, and makeup gift sets.
Stay tuned for all of my picks from this year’s sale and what I’m buying!
Hope you’re week is off to a great start so far and happy Sale Shopping Prep!
