As a mom I sometimes find it hard to believe in myself as beautiful. I’m in leggings and a t-shirt about 90% of my days. I’m covered in sticky fingers markings, snot wiped on the shoulders of my tops and pieces of food in my hair. #MomLife. I sometimes find it hard to think of myself as beautiful and having confidence in how I look and feel. I can remember before kids I’d get ready every day, my hair was clean and curled and I had time for one hour workouts. It’s hard to find a great balance between being the best mom and still feel like an individual woman, apart from your kids. It’s so important to have moments to make yourself feel beautiful and whole.
I have to say even that’s hard for me because I LOVE my kids. There haven’t been a lot of times I’ve traveled without them. The few days I was gone without them I probably spent an hour or so on FaceTime with them. I always think to myself how nice it wold be to have a few hours off everyday, maybe even a day or two. But honestly, I’m that mom who counts down the minutes to nap or bedtime and then within minutes I already miss them. Or I’ll finally get out of the house to do a little shopping, but hurry back because I don’t want to miss something.
Anyway, my point is we find ourselves so enthralled into our kids’ lives that we forget to take time for ourselves. Give ourselves the “Me Time” that we deserve to feel refreshed and ready for the next challenges of parenthood. So one of my New Years Resolutions this year was to find things that help me feel more like a woman, giving me confidence and the refreshers I need to keep me mentally strong and happy. Here is a look at a few things I have done so far that are helping me keep my sanity.
How I’m Taking Time For Myself To Feel Beautiful
- I started my own business. You’ve heard be talk about Maskcara and how much I love it. I loved it so much I decided to start selling it. Sharing my love of this quick and easy makeup has been so good for the soul. I not only love how it makes me feel everyday when I put it on, but I love how other women are finding their beautiful by using it too! Interested in this Magical Makeup? - I got lash extensions. So this has been a real game changer for me. It sounds a little odd, like how do lashes make a big impact? Well, it’s like the time you had your makeup done for a big event, a wedding or really anytime you have been fully made up and you feel like you’re smokin’ hot. Like you are invincible and can take on anything because you have that self confidence and feeling beautiful. Well it’s like that you guys, but every day because they’re always on and done. They complete your look, even when you don’t want to wear makeup. Annnd, as a mom it’s such a time saver everyday; not having to spend 10 minutes curling, priming and putting mascara on my lashes gives me more time to spend with my kids in the mornings. If yo’re in the Bay go to my fave place, Lush Lashes.
- I got a spray tan. It’s the middle of the Winter and we all are feeling pastier than paste, #AmIright?? Anyway, I headed to Apres Soleil to get a little color. I’ll be honest, I have never had a spray tan. It was awesome you guys! It only took about 10 minutes and I had such a natural, beautiful glow; like I spent week straight in the tanning bed, or at the beach…But it wasn’t that hot, sweaty and uncomfortable.
These are just a few things I have done this year so far. I’m looking to schedule a few spa appointments next, like a facial and a massage. What are things you do to re-charge and make yourself feel beautiful?
Thanks so much for stopping by!
I think this is a must-do activitiy for everyone, especially parents. Great idea dear!
