Books have been a thing in our house since Aria was about 6 months. We started reading with her every night before bed, well during the day too, but mostly at night. Still to this day she asks if we can read a book during tuck in time. She loves it so much she then asks James to read a different book during their time. It’s been a little harder incorporating reading with Amelia at night because she gets too stimulated. Aria always lays back, relaxes and enjoys the story and can interact calmly with questions and participation in learning. But, Amelia is quite the opposite. She is getting better as she gets older, so with her we do most of the reading throughout the day, or right before wind down time.
We always let the girls pick out their own books each night. Depending on how late it is will determine the size of the book they can pick out. It’s funny, because Aria tends to gravitate towards the same few books, and Amelia just reaches into the shelf and grabs whatever she can pull out. Today I want to share with you some of our favorite books for toddlers. Some we still have, others we don’t because they got so worn out. I have separated our favorites by age. Let’s be honest, Amelia can’t handle the longer books, she can’t sit still long enough!
